Main body : TomTom, a Netherlands-based navigation and mapping services company, was said to have attracted takeover interest from Apple and Microsoft, The Times reported. The newspaper’s market report section did not cite a source for the speculation.
A market report in the Daily Express noted talk that Apple Inc, a listed Cupertino, California-based computer manufacturer, was considering making a takeover bid for an unidentified company. Apple had previously been tipped as a potential buyer for Arm Holdings, a listed UK-based microchip designer.
TomTom’s share price closed EUR 0.03 up at EUR 9.67 in Amsterdam yesterday, 30 July, giving the company a market capitalisation of EUR 2.21bn (USD 2.42bn).
