In a significant development, technology group Wärtsilä has forged an eight-year Guaranteed Asset Performance agreement with NYK LNG Ship Management, a renowned Japanese operator. The agreement encompasses the two Wärtsilä X72DF main engines installed on an LNG Carrier vessel and aims to optimize vessel availability throughout its operational lifecycle. A key aspect of this agreement is the assurance of the maximum duration between overhauls, thereby ensuring the vessel's safe and efficient operation during its time in dry dock. This commitment leads to heightened vessel earnings with minimized maintenance costs and fosters operational efficiency with minimal emissions. Wärtsilä recorded this contract as order intake in March 2023.
Beyond providing spare parts and field service, the comprehensive scope of this long-term agreement includes remote operational support, maintenance planning, and the implementation of Wärtsilä's groundbreaking Expert Insight predictive maintenance service. Leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and rule-based advanced diagnostics, Expert Insight continuously monitors operational data, proactively identifying potential issues before they manifest and safeguarding asset availability.
Henrik Wilhelms, the Director of Agreement Sales at Wärtsilä Marine Power, expresses pride in the renewed partnership with NYK, stating, "The Guaranteed Asset Performance agreement represents the pinnacle of service contracts within our Lifecycle Support strategy. It is tailored to maximize fuel efficiency and overall performance, enabling reduced operating costs and a diminished carbon footprint."
Wärtsilä's Guaranteed Asset Performance Agreements offer a comprehensive solution to enhance a vessel's operational reliability, performance, and availability. By establishing mutually agreed-upon performance targets based on the customer's specific business requirements, Wärtsilä guarantees the achievement and maintenance of these targets. Measurable indicators include uptime, reliability, fuel consumption, emissions, and overhaul duration, providing a tangible framework to assess and optimize operational performance.
