Since he joined TomTom in 2011, Cees van
Dok has overseen the design of the next
generation of TomTom navigation software
and products. The breadth of his user
interface and product design knowledge
ensures products that create the best
possible experience for TomTom customers.
Van Dok leads a dynamic process which
integrates user interface design disciplines
with industrial design, concept development,
and user research.
With an MSc in Industrial Design Engineering
from Delft University of Technology, Van Dok
launched his career by creating new concepts
for products and software with a better user
experience. He worked at Microsoft as a
Design Manager for six years, guiding the
design of many features found in Windows
Vista and 7. He then founded a new studio
in Amsterdam for the agency Frog Design; as
Executive Creative Director, he led product
and software design projects for clients such
as Vodafone, LG, HP, SAP and Phonak. His
user interface designs have led to over 60
patents and patent applications.
Born in the Noordoostpolder of the
Netherlands, the Dutch native also speaks
English and German; he has lived in Seattle,
