The new Peugeot 208, which we assumed was to be the first PSA Citroen car with a TomTom system (global contract announced in 2012), has been introduced with an older set-up (delivered by Magneti Marelli) with Nokia maps. According to a senior sales rep, the first Peugeot to be delivered with TomTom software, maps and Traffic will be the update of the Peugeot 508, which is planned for FY17.
At Citroen, the new DS5, planned for November 2015, will be the first TomTom based system after which the D3 (early 2016) will follow. The recently introduced Citroen C4 does not have a TomTom system yet and staff indicated that only as of 2H15 will models be equipped with TomTom systems. However, no high volume model updates are planned in 2H15.
Mazda is only using the TomTom maps for the CX-5, all other models have a different set-up not using TomTom. The current CX-5 will be updated soon, which means Mazda will no longer be a client.
Ford’s C-Max, Mondeo and Focus are already equipped with Ford’s Synch2 which has, according to the Ford people on the stand, a TomTom as standard (sd card based). The new Fiesta, to be launched somewhere in FY16, will also be equipped with Synch2.
Kia had the Sorrento on the stand, which is equipped with a system where TomTom has supplied connectivity, Traffic and other elements. Apparently, the new Kia Sportage (intro in 1Q16) and the new Kia Optima Wagon (into in 4Q15) will also be equipped with TomTom components and connectivity.
Renault will also equip the new Laguna with R-Link 2 in the 4th quarter of 2015 while the new Megane, expected in 1Q16, will follow. It is not certain yet that the Clio, which currently has a 1st generation R-Link will also adopt the R-Link2.
