UPS stock jumps after profit, revenue rise above expectations ..
Shares of United Parcel Service Inc. UPS, +1.21% surged 2.6% in premarket trading Wednesday, after the package delivery giant reported second-quarter earnings and revenue that rose above expectations, while affirming its full-year outlook. Net income rose to $1.69 billion, or $1.94 a share, from $1.49 billion, or $1.71 a share, in the same period a year ago. Excluding non-recurring items, adjusted EPS increased to $1.96 from $1.94, above the FactSet consensus of $1.93. Revenue grew 3.4% to $18.05 billion, above the FactSet consensus of $17.97 billion. Domestic revenue rose 7.7% to $11.15 billion, topping the FactSet consensus of $10.82 billion, as a 30% increase in UPS Next Day Air volume providing a boost. International revenue fell 2.7% to $3.51 billion, to miss expectations of $3.66 billion, while supply chain and freight revenue slipped 3.1% to $3.39 billion to miss expectations of $3.50 billion. For 2019, UPS still expects adjusted EPS of $7.45 to $7.75 and adjusted free cash flow of $3.5 billion to $4.0 billion. The stock has gained 7.9% yer to date through Tuesday, while the Dow Jones Transportation Average DJT, +0.89% has advanced 16.9% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.65% has climbed 17.2%.
