Brazilian Steel Industry Reports YoY Growth in 2021

The Brazilian steel institute lABr has issued its 2021 edition of the Brazilian Steel Market Report. lABr reported crude steel production in 2021 increased on yearly basis by 15% YoY to 36.1 miiiion tonnes, an increase reflecting chiefly the recovery from the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020.

Domestic sales of steel products increased by 15% YoY to 22.3 million tonnes, while exports increased by 4% YoY to 11.0 million tonne and imports increased by 144% YoY to 5.0 million tonnes. The apparent consumption of steel products increased by 23% YoY to 26.3 million tonnes, the highest level since 2013.
