Sif start productie voor Empire windpark

(ABM FN-Dow Jones) Sif begint met de productie van 54 monopiles voor het Amerikaanse windpark Empire Wind 1. Dit maakte de Roermondse funderingsspecialist donderdag bekend.

Met de ondertekening van de stroomafname overeenkomst voor het Empire Wind 1-project hebben Equinor en de New York State Energy Research and Development Authority volgens Sif een belangrijke volgende stap gezet in de realisatie van het Empire Wind-project.

Sif zal voor dit Amerikaanse project 54 monopiles en transitiestukken leveren.

De productie van de monopiles zal naar verwachting in juli starten in de nieuwe fabriek op de Rotterdamse Maasvlakte.

Empire Wind 1 wordt een van Amerika's eerste windparken op zee. Er wordt verwacht dat het park energie zal leveren om maar liefst 500.000 huizen in New York van stroom te voorzien.

Begin dit jaar meldde Sif dat het contract voor Empire Wind 2 voor de levering van 84 monopiles was opgezegd.

Het aandeel Sif steeg donderdagochtend 0,5 procent naar 11,76 euro.

Wind Energy past niet meer in groeiplannen Britse energiereus.

(ABM FN-Dow Jones) BP is van plan om zijn onshore windenergieactiviteiten in de Verenigde Staten te verkopen. Dit meldde de Britse energiereus maandag.

Volgens BP past bp Wind Energy niet langer in de groeiplannen van het bedrijf. BP wil zich vooral focussen op Lightsource BP, de grootste ontwikkelaar van zonne-energie in Europa.

BP zal binnenkort het verkoopproces starten voor Wind Energy, dat belangen heeft in 10 onshore windenergieprojecten, verspreid over zeven Amerikaanse staten.

De Britse energiereus kondigde eerder op de dag al aan dat het een minderheidsbelang verkoopt in BP Pipelines TAP, dat weer een belang van 20 procent heeft in de Trans Adriatic Pipeline. Na de transactie blijft BP de meerderheidsaandeelhouder.

Ocean Winds secures Massachusetts permits for SouthCoast Wind

SouthCoast Wind on Friday announced several permit approvals from Massachusetts, keeping the SouthCoast Wind 1 project on track to supply offshore wind power to the New England grid by 2030.

SouthCoast Wind, owned by Ocean Winds, the joint venture between EDP Renovaveis SA (ELI:EDPR) and Engie SA (EPA:ENGI), is developing a 2.4-GW lease area off the coast of Massachusetts. After a rebid, the developer was recently awarded power purchase agreements with Massachusetts and Rhode Island for 1,287 MW and is currently negotiating the contracts.

Ocean City challenges permit of 2-GW Maryland offshore wind project

The Town of Ocean City, Maryland, has decided to launch legal proceedings against the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s (BOEM’s) recent approval of US Wind Inc’s proposal to build an over 2-GW wind farm in waters off the Mid-Atlantic state.

The City is seeking to overturn the permit in “efforts to protect its coastline and community,” according to an official statement on Friday. The major concerns included in the lawsuit are related to the project’s potential negative effect on the landscape, the environment, the tourism industry and the fishing community.
