Manafort wordt overgeplaatst naar de gevangenis van Rikers Island, New York.
In het belang van zijn eigen veiligheid mogelijk eenzame opsluiting zonder contacten met andere gevangenen.

Er gaat een proces van start tegen Manafort , waarbij hij door de staat wordt aangeklaagd.
Veroordelingen door de staat kunnen niet door een Presidentieel Pardon ongedaan gemaakt worden.

President Trump’s tariffs and trade wars play a critical role in his reelection schema. Having largely thrown in with conventional GOP plutocracy — most notably with the massive 2017 corporate tax cuts — Trump’s moves on trade are the political life support that keeps alive the faint-pulsed aura of economic populism he concocted in 2016, largely betrayed in office, and hopes to duplicate in 2020.

So it could not be more fitting that two new studies are now showing that Trump’s trade policies could wipe out the gains that Trump’s tax cut delivered to the non-wealthy — gains that were meager to begin with, relatively speaking, and could now disappear entirely.

Trump’s story about this resulting combination is that the massive corporate tax cuts are showering workers with rising wages fueled by boosted corporate investment, while his trade and immigration policies are protecting them from trade deals in which foreign countries (mainly China) are ripping them off and from economic competition from low wage immigrant workers.

But it turns out the tax cuts aren’t delivering big benefits to ordinary Americans. Whatever benefits they did confer are endangered by the real-world impact of his tariffs and trade wars.

(Although the repatriation and cuts occurred, “relatively little” went to the worker bonuses that Trump celebrated after the cuts were signed into law. “One organization that tracks these bonuses has reported a total of $4.4 billion,” the report states. “With US employment of 157 million, this amount is $28 per worker. This amount is 2% to 3% of the corporate tax cut, and a smaller share of repatriated funds.”)

Meanwhile, on immigration, he’s lost the “control” he vowed to exercise over the border. This is largely because Trump’s whole worldview -- which treats migrations as little more than efforts by migrants and their home countries to “rip us off,” the story he has told for years -- is completely unsuited to the complex challenges these migrations actually pose.

Trump still may well retain an advantage on the economy if -- if -- it remains good. But it’s also plausible that the unpopularity of all these strands of Trumponomics -- the trade wars, the immigration cruelties, the tax cuts -- will come together to persuade voters that the economy is good in spite of all the spectacular failures of “America First” Trumpism, and that they can have the former without the latter.

Trump’s Tariffs Could Nullify Tax Cut, Clouding Economic Picture

WASHINGTON — President Trump’s tax cuts provided a temporary jolt to the United States economy by putting more money into taxpayers’ pockets. The tariffs that Mr. Trump has grown so fond of may have the opposite effect.

Two new analyses show that the tariffs Mr. Trump is using to punish China, Mexico, Europe and other governments would more than wipe out any gains from his $1.5 trillion tax cut for low- and middle-income earners, leaving them with less money to spend into a consumer-driven economy. Higher earners would fare only slightly better, with their tax gains significantly eroded but not entirely washed away.

The potential for Mr. Trump’s tariffs to nullify his signature tax cut shows how the president’s trade war could undermine his biggest selling point going into his 2020 re-election campaign: a strong economy.

Yields on Treasury bonds are tumbling, as investors seek safe harbor against growing fears of an economic downturn. A closely watched survey of manufacturing activity declined at a faster rate than forecasters expected on Monday, with several business owners citing rising concerns over the cost and uncertainty brought on by tariffs.

Analysts have abruptly changed their forecasts for Federal Reserve policy this year and are now predicting as many as three rate cuts as concerns grow that the Fed will need to take drastic action to prop up the economy. JPMorgan and Evercore ISI now project a total of two interest rate cuts starting in September, and Barclay’s predicts three cuts, up from previous estimates of a single rate cut at most for 2019.

Accounting for both the tax cuts and the full range of tariffs, the Tax Foundation estimates, the lowest-earning fifth of American taxpayers would see an effective tax increase of 1.1 percent of their income this year. Those in the middle fifth would see a 0.3 percent tax increase. Upper-middle-class earners would have their gains from tax cuts wiped out. Only the top 5 percent of earners would continue to see a net tax cut of more than 1 percent on the year.

Luchtschip, relax. Wanneer je Trump 24/7 volgt, dat kan gewoon niet goed zijn voor je gemoedstoestand en je laat geen ruimte meer voor de ongeschoolde Trump-aanhangers. Zelf denk ik dat doseren beter is, zodat ze hun fake vreugde niet in een pro-Trump only forum gaan zoeken.

Rechtszaak tegen Michael Flynn

Rechter Sullivan had geeist dat de Government alle tapes van Michael Flynn uiterlijk afgelopen vrijdag openbaar moest maken.
De Government kwam met een transcript van een voice mail. De Juridisch raadgever van Trump vroeg in de voicemail of Flynn zich wilde bedenken over zijn medewerking met het Mueller onderzoek. En als hij toch besloot mee te werken om dan niet alles te vertellen. Gesuggereerd werd om Flynn dan met een Presidentieel pardon te belonen.
The Government zei tegen de rechter dat andere gesprekken niet worden ingeleverd omdat zij in deze rechtszaak geen toegevoegde waarde hadden.

Met name de Washington Post, reporter Carol Leonnig, vond dat de Government arrogant een bevel van de rechter negeerde. Want er zou ook een gesprek tussen Flynn en de Russische Ambassadeur in de US, Kislyak bestaan.
Carol Leonnig sprak de verwachting uit dat de rechter de Government wel op de vingers zou tikken en ook dit gesprek zou opeisen.

De rechter zegt nu dat het niet nodig is dat the Government met aanvullende afgeluisterde gesprekken komt.

Aangezien AG William Barr nu de scepter zwaait bij het DOJ zou je kunnen denken, dat hij dit onder het tapijt wil schuiven.
Aan de andere kant is het mogelijk dat the Government de rechter heeft kunnen overtuigen dat vrijgave van het gesprek tussen Flynn en Kislyak andere onderzoeken en rechtszaken in gevaar kan brengen.

Laten we hopen dat het laatste het geval is en dat het recht zijn beloop krijgt.
Ook al gaat dit ten koste van openbaarmaking van feiten en transparantie voor de gewone burger.
