BUZZ-Just Eat Takeaway slips as DoorDash/Wolt deal heats up competition in Europe

** Shares in Just Eat Takeaway (JET) shed 4% as
DoorDash/Wolt deal sparked competition jitters over its position
as Europe's largest meals ordering company
** U.S. rival DoorDash inked an $8.1 bln deal to
buy Finland-based delivery company Wolt Enterprises OY, allowing
DoorDash to enter 22 additional markets
** "Wolt competes with JET in several markets, including
JET's most profitable market, Germany," RBC's Sherri Malek says
** In H1, JET's adj. EBITDA margin in Germany reached 4.8%,
a tad behind 5.0% recorded in the smaller Dutch market
** "We remain relatively cautious on the shares because of
elevated levels of competition," Malek adds
** DoorDash's deal would be one of the biggest yet in the
space following JET's acquisition of U.S. Grubhub and Uber's
deal for Postmates
** JET's GrubHub deal has been recently contested by
shareholder Cat Rock, which renewed its urge to sell the U.S.
business on Wednesday
** Shares in German peers Delivery Hero and
HelloFresh slip around 1%
** "Perception of increased competition… Although largely in
(Delivery Hero's) smallest markets," Berenberg's Sarah Simon
says
