ziet er niet goed uit ik denk dat Fugro toch zelf aansprakelijk gesteld zal worden, ook daar dit niet de eerste keer is in Brazil:
FOUR FUGRO EMPLOYEES MISSING FOLLOWING DAM INCIDENT IN BRAZIL
On Friday 25 January, a dam collapsed at a mining site near Brumadinho in the Minas Gerais state in South-Eastern Brazil. As per media coverage of the dam collapse, many people are currently unaccounted for after a muddy sludge flooded a nearby neighbourhood.

Fugro has five colleagues working at the dam location, of which at this moment four are still unaccounted for. One colleague was rescued and is in a local hospital with minor injuries. Fugro is working with local authorities to get more information on the well-being of its colleagues and is providing full support to the families of the missing persons.
We are deeply saddened by this tragic event and our thoughts are with all of those that have been affected.
Further announcements will be made if and when appropriate.
En dus nu:
Dutch soil exploration company Fugro was involved in the mining disaster in Brazil. The disaster caused a large dam to burst and killed 272 people. Fugro employees engaged in drilling activities that would cause the instability of the dam.
According to investigations, Fugro’s activities are most likely the cause of the dam’s burst.
Earlier research had already shown that the mine was in poor condition.
Fugro, a multinational from Leidschendam, was working for the Brazilian mining company Vale SA. There were 5 workers at the site on the day the dam burst. Among other things, they installed water pressure gauges and took soil samples for research. Holes were dug in the dam for this purpose. They drilled another hole on January 21, 2019. After 5 days, the dam burst and 4 of Fugro’s 5 employees died.
The report states that the drilling works have caused sudden liquefaction in some parts of the dam. This process is called liquefaction. The soil loses its hardness and becomes liquid, which causes the dam to break. CIMNE’s independent Spanish study comes to the same conclusions.
According to Spanish investigators, Fugro should have known that his drilling activities were risky. They should have known that the dam could liquefy.
The report shows that the job was first given to another firm that did not work with water in drilling. According to American guidelines, this company is not preferred because it is safer, but drilling with water will be faster. As a result, Fugro gets the job.
The massive dam in the western town of Brumadinho is 86 meters high and 720 meters wide. A huge piece of the dam collapsed and slipped. A landslide swept through the valley at more than 100 kilometers per hour, killing 272 people.
Fugro laat zien hou de markt reageert bij massa doden en mogelijke liabilities, de Philips aandeelhouders zijn nogmaals gewaarschuwd..
