Fed's Kashkari says no cuts in 2024 if inflation stalls
april 04, 2024 08:10p.m. CEST
President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis Neel Kashkari underlined on Thursday that the central bank might opt against implementing monetary policy easing this year if progress on bringing inflation down stagnates.
The Federal Reserve official, who is also a voting member of the Federal Open Market Committee, revealed that his initial March forecast for this year included two rate cuts. However, he emphasized the necessity of monitoring additional data before considering any adjustments to monetary policy.
"I don't see any reason why when we cut federal funds rate we can't continue with our balance sheet plan," Kashkari stressed.
