Alcatel-Lucent wins Bezeq upgrade tender
The upgrade is intended to provide 100 mbps Internet to all subscribers on existing copper lines.

Alcatel-Lucent has won a tender for upgrading Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd.'s (TASE: BEZQ) network. The tender is worth tens of millions of dollars, over several years. The upgrade will make 100 mbps Internet communications available to most users all over Israel.
Alcatel-Lucent will provide Bezeq with VDSL2 Vectoring solutions to upgrade its existing network. Most carriers worldwide have chosen this solution, because it enables them to offer high speeds using existing copper wire infrastructure. At the same time, carriers are gradually replacing this infrastructure with fiber optic cable, but this is a much lengthier and more expensive process, and so Bezeq's copper wire lines will continue to serve its customers for many years to come.

Alcatel-Lucent's solution will enable Bezeq to deal with several problems, first and foremost with the fact that the company is currently incapable of providing 100 mbps speeds to all users, but only to a minority, because of the distances between subscribers and telecommunications cabinets. The company promises speeds of up to 100 mbps in its publicity, but in fact speeds generally reach 40-50 mbps at most, and even that cannot be provided to all subscribers, because the further the subscriber is from the cabinet, the greater the noise on copper lines, adversely affecting performance.

As far as Bezeq is concerned, the upgrade is vital for dealing with the technological limitation, which is also a marketing and image limitation, since rival provider HOT Telecommunication Systems Ltd. (TASE: HOT) brands itself as providing 100 mbps through the country. Bezeq also needs the solution following the launch of Israel Electric Corporation's fiber optic venture, which will start to operate next year.

It is believed that, although Bezeq has selected Alcatel-Lucent, it will in fact ultimately work simultaneously with two vendors, the second one being Adtran, which bought Nokia-Siemens' fixed-line broadband access business. Adtran, however, does not yet have a working product, and Alcatel-Lucent is a world leader that has already installed its solution on the networks of many European carriers.

Toch nog eens 850 stuks verkocht aan 2.897

Gemiddelde nu wel gestegen tot 3,351903529.

Maar verlies van 16500 gedaald tot kleine 2000.

De recente verkopen tussen 2.67 en 2.89 geven terug ruimte om bij te kopen moest de koers terug in elkaar storten.

Telecom NZ reports surging mobile data traffic on its network.

The year to August 2013 saw mobile data traffic climb 91 percent while data traffic on Telecom NZ’s Wi-Fi hotspot network climbed 23 percent in a single month.

Where is the traffic coming from? I asked Telecom Digital Ventures CEO Rod Snodgrass. He says the two main reasons are a growth in customer numbers on Telecom’s mobile network and the increasing number of smartphones in use.

Telecom NZ’s Wi-Fi hot-spot network is based on the company’s phone box network. Many of these connect to exchanges over copper, which limits their data capacity. That network is scheduled for an upgrade to Telecom NZ’s nationwide Optical Transport Network.

Het Franse telecombedrijf Alcatel-Lucent gaat wereldwijd zo'n 15.000 banen schrappen. Dat zal het bedrijf dinsdag aankondigen op de Europese ondernemingsraad, zo meldt de Franse zakenkrant Les Echos. Het is voorlopig onduidelijk wat dit betekent voor de vestigingen in Antwerpen en Namen.

Men schrapt 1/5 van de banen en de koers reageert niet, vreemd.

Waarschijnlijk geloofd men niet dat het zal lukken om in Frankrijk banen te schrappen.

Koers reageerde wel degelijk (opende 2%+), maar het algehele sentiment zit nou niet bepaald mee.

Het is duidelijk dat men Alcatel klaar maakt voor de verkoop (Zie vorige week Blackberry die 40% ontsloeg en nu op bedeltocht is naar een overnemer.)

Op zijn top werkten hier meer dan 93.000 personen, nu gaat men naar 62.000.

Maar zal het Nokia zijn??
Nokia will have more than $20 billion when the sale of the phone devices unit is sold. The cash would be more than enough to take on Alcatel-Lucent, whose market share stands at $8.7 billion. Nokia could grow its market share in the global wireless infrastructure market from 18% to 30%, according to analysts. In theory, a bigger market share would make the combined Nokia-Alcatel-Lucent more profitable. Nokia already reduced the size of its workforce, as did Alcatel-Lucent. It might be possible to acquire Alcatel-Lucent without incurring any job losses outside of the already planned cuts.

ik heb ook een goed gevoel bij Samsung,ze zijn marketshare aan het verliezen aan de ZTE,Huawei's en vergeet niet ze hebben zakken met geld

Zo dat is een scherpe daling. Bericht wordt niet heel positief onvangen. Intraday van +2 naar ruim -3%.

Iemand een idee of de turbo's en sprinters uitgestopt worden als Alcatel in Amerika intraday de stoploss koers raakt van de turbo's en sprinters die gekoppeld zijn aan de Europese notering?

Neen staan los van elkaar, maar de kans is wel groot dat europa morgen opent aan ongeveer de slotkoers in Amerika.
