Co Down firm Graham Construction is set to build the Royal Victoria new € 64m maternity hospital in a joint venture with another company.
Graham and Bam Ireland will develop the new facility, which will include delivery suites, obstetric theatres, a midwife-led unit and a neo-natal intensive care unit. The midwife-led unit will feature ensuite rooms and a birthing pool.
Karen Brookes, director of capital planning and redevelopment for the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, said the trust was excited about the project.
"We look forward to working with our partners, Graham and Bam, to create a high-quality, modern maternity hospital that will help enable us to deliver quality care designed to meet the needs of more than 6,000 women who have their babies delivered by the Royal Jubilee maternity service each year," she added.
Graham Construction is based in Hillsborough but operates around the UK and Ireland.
