De Russische soldaten in Svatove hadden eerder al opdracht gekregen te helpen bij het evacueren van burgers, die in Russisch gebied willen blijven

Prima voor het Oekraïense land , maar dit wordt na hetgeen wat ze aan land al hebben prijs gegeven wel erg breed uitgelicht .
Kan niet anders zeggen laat je niet foppen door eenzijdige propaganda .
Als ik objectief kijk dan denk ik dat in Rusland het nieuws bol staat in het voordeel van de Russen .
Gebeurtenissen en hoe en waar wordt het door de media weg gezet , ben nog niet echt in de jubelstemming , al hoop ik van harte dat de oorlog gisteren over was .
Lijkt meer op het uitlichten met de bedoeling te overtuigen, dat wapens leveren effect heeft , de vraag is of dat zo is , en of we door wapens te blijven leveren de oorlog niet verlengen waardoor de Europese economie zich zelf in de voet schiet en de VS de vruchten kan blijven plukken .
Het is een eenrichtingsweg zonder de mogelijkheid om nog te keren .
Ik zeg oorlogs propaganda wat is het doel daarvan en wat moeten wij daar van geloven .
Oorlog een beerput waarin Ethiek en Liefde voor de mensheid snoeihard verzopen wordt

Ukraine troops reach railway hub as breakthrough threatens to turn into rout

KYIV/HRAKOVE, Ukraine, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Ukrainian officials shared photos on Saturday showing troops raising the nation's flag over the main railway city that has supplied Russian forces in northeastern Ukraine, as a collapse in Russia's frontline threatened to turn into a rout.

A Reuters journalist inside a vast area recaptured in recent days by the advancing Ukrainian forces saw Ukrainian police patrolling towns and boxes of ammunition lying in heaps at positions abandoned by fleeing Russian soldiers.

With Ukrainians now having reached the city of Kupiansk, where rail lines linking Russia to eastern Ukraine converge, the advance had penetrated all the way to Moscow's main logistics route, potentially trapping thousands of Russian troops.

Natalia Popova, adviser to the head of the Kharkiv regional council, shared photos on Facebook of troops holding up a Ukrainian flag in front of Kupiansk city hall. A Russian flag lay at their feet. "Kupiansk is Ukraine. Glory to the armed forces of Ukraine," she wrote.

Ukraine's security service confirmed Kyiv had forces inside Kupiansk.

In Hrakove, one of dozens of recaptured villages, Reuters saw burnt out vehicles bearing the "Z" symbol of Russia's invasion, and piles of rubbish and ammunition in positions the Russians had abandoned in evident haste.

"Hello everyone, we are from Russia," was spraypainted on a wall.

Three bodies lay in white body bags in a yard.

The regional chief of police, Volodymyr Tymoshenko, said Ukrainian police had moved in the previous day, and had checked the identities of local residents who had lived under Russian occupation since the invasion's second day.

"The first function is to provide help that they need. The next job is to document the crimes committed by Russian invaders on the territories which they temporarily occupied."

The capture of at least part of Kupiansk, if confirmed, potentially leaves thousands of Russian soldiers trapped at the frontline and cut off from supplies, including in Izium, Russia's main stronghold and logistics hub in the northeast.

Reuters could not independently verify the situation in either Kupiansk or Izium. Moscow has acknowledged that its frontline has buckled in Kharkiv but has said it is rushing extra troops to reinforce the area. Russian-installed regional officials have called for civilians to evacuate both cities.

Britain's Ministry of Defence in an intelligence update said: "A Russian force around Izium is likely increasingly isolated.

"Ukrainian units are now threatening the town of Kupiansk; its capture would be a significant blow to Russia because it sits on supply routes to the Donbas front line."

Mark Hertling, a retired four-star general and former commander of U.S. ground forces in Europe, tweeted: "Make no mistake, (Ukraine) is executing a brilliant maneuver focused on terrain objectives to 'bag' Russians. But the Russians are helping them -- by doing very little to counter."

ZELENSKIY HAILS SUCCESS

In an overnight video address, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said at least 30 settlements had been liberated in Kharkiv region during the advance of recent days.

"Our army, intelligence units and the security services are carrying out active engagements in several operational areas. They are doing so successfully," he said in a video address.

Ukrainian officials have released a barrage of images of troops sweeping into previously Russian-held towns and being embraced by local residents who had been under Russian military occupation for six months.

Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to Ukraine's presidential office, in a video posted on YouTube, said the Russians in Izium were almost isolated.

Ukraine's advance in the east is by far its most rapid success in months, after a long period in which the war had shifted into a relentless grind along entrenched front lines.

It came as a surprise just a week after Kyiv announced the start of a long-awaited counter-attack to reclaim Russian-occupied territory hundreds of kilometres away at the opposite end of the front in Kherson in the south.

Less information has been made public about that operation but Kyiv has also claimed some successes there, cutting supply routes to thousands of Russian troops isolated on the west bank of the Dnipro River.

"We see success in Kherson now, we see some success in Kharkiv and so that is very, very encouraging," U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told a news conference in Prague on Thursday.

Tens of thousands of people have been killed, millions have been driven from their homes and Russian forces have destroyed entire cities since launching what Moscow calls a "special military operation" to "disarm" Ukraine. Russia denies intentionally targeting civilians.

Asymmetrical warfare focus has Taiwan drone companies upping the ante

From battlegrounds in Ukraine to Taiwan's offshore military outposts, drones have become synonymous with 21st century warfare, and their stealth, maneuverability, and relatively low cost suggest they could play an even greater role in the future.

Ukraine has demonstrated their effectiveness in asymmetric warfare as it blunts the advances of more numerous Russian forces, deploying Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 drones and Switchblade suicide drones donated by the U.S. to attack targets and gain intelligence.

It is a lesson that has not been lost on Taiwan, itself threatened by a larger neighbor and committed to a defense strategy centered on asymmetrical warfare.

At the inauguration of a state-run drone research and development (R&D) center in Chiayi County last month, President Tsai Ing-wen (???) pledged to support drone research to strengthen the country's asymmetric combat capabilities.

But it is domestic drone producers, eager to upgrade the first-generation of domestically made drones Taiwan currently possesses, that could offer the quickest shot in the arm to Taiwan's defenses.

One such manufacturer is JC Tech located in Taipei's Neihu Technology Park, which started developing drones in 2018 when it teamed up with two other companies on a project to help the Coast Guard build a fleet of single-rotor drones.

JC Tech President Robert Cheng (???) said his company now has built and tested prototypes of a suicide drone called the Flyingfish that was inspired by the U.S.-made Switchblades deployed in Ukraine and has been nicknamed the "Taiwanese Switchblade."

Ukrainian forces are continuing to make unexpectedly rapid advances in the north-east of the country, as Kyiv appears to have retaken control of the strategically vital town of Kupiansk and encircled thousands of Russian troops in Izyum, Moscow’s stronghold in the north-east sector of the front.

Ukrainian troops have in the past few days pushed Russian forces out of a number of settlements in the region that Moscow occupied since the first days of its invasion.

In a video address late on Friday President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Ukrainian forces had liberated more than 30 settlements in the Kharkiv region.

Vitaly Ganchev, the head of the Russian-backed administration in the Kharkiv region, said on state television that several villages have come under the control of Ukrainian armed formation and said his administration was trying to “evacuate” civilians from cities including Izyum, Russia’s main logistics base in the province, where the British officials described Russian forces as “increasingly isolated”.

A local resident of Izyum, who prefers to remain anonymous, told the Guardian that the Ukrainian troops had entered the town of Izyum. Before that, “Russian occupying forces were rapidly withdrawing from the city, leaving ammunition and equipment behind.”

“We are actually surprised by how poorly the Russians have retreated,” said Kuzan. “Retreat is part of the art of war. When we retreated, we made sure they suffered losses as they advanced and we did to so to ensure that they only advanced 1, 2 3 kilometres.

“They were so confident that they didn’t prepare their defences,” said Kuzan. “This has shown that the only advantage they have is in the number of artillery pieces and heavy equipment. So all we need is the same amount.”

Following the big territorial gains made this week by Ukraine, Moscow is sending columns of military reinforcements to the Kharkiv region, according to reports in Russian media.

According to the Ukrainian military, Russia is also sending 1,300 Chechen fighters to the southern Kherson region.

De oorlog in Oekraïne is volgens de Amerikaanse spionagedienst CIA uitgelopen op een totale ‘mislukking’ voor Rusland. De bloedige strijd heeft de zwakte van het Russische leger blootgelegd. President Vladimir Poetin gokt er echter op dat hij uiteindelijk sterker zal zijn dan het Westen en Oekraïne .Volgens CIA-directeur William Burns hebben het verloop van de oorlog en de huidige offensieven van het Oekraïense leger in het zuiden en oosten opnieuw pijnlijk duidelijk gemaakt hoe Poetin de Oekraïners heeft onderschat. De Russische leider heeft zich volgens hem met name verkeken op de moed en bereidheid van de Oekraïners om te vechten.

“Het is moeilijk om het verloop van de oorlog en Poetins staat van dienst in de oorlog te zien als iets anders dan een mislukking”, aldus Burns, oud-ambassadeur in Washington, donderdag tijdens een veiligheidsconferentie in Washington. De analyse van de CIA over de kapitale politieke en militaire blunders die Poetin met de invasie begaan heeft, sluit aan bij eerdere, vernietigende conclusies van westerse zusterdiensten, zoals de Britse.

Ze scheppen het beeld van een Russische leider die, ondanks zijn ruim twintig jaar in het Kremlin, heikele situaties zoals oorlogen verkeerd inschat en niet gediend is van afwijkende adviezen. “Hij onderschatte de kracht van de coalitie”, zei directeur Jeremy Fleming van de Britse cyber- en afluisterdienst GCHQ in juli over de Russische leider. “Hij onderschatte de economische gevolgen van de sancties. En hij overschatte de mogelijkheden van zijn leger om een snelle overwinning veilig te stellen.”
LANGETERMIJNSCHADE
Volgens de CIA denkt Poetin echter dat hij alsnog als overwinnaar uit de strijd kan komen. In het afgelopen halfjaar ging hij ervan uit, aldus Burns, dat de Europese vastberadenheid zou wankelen en de Amerikaanse aandacht zou afdwalen naarmate het conflict langer zou voortduren. Burns: “Poetin gokt erop dat hij taaier is dan de Oekraïners, Europeanen en Amerikanen. Ik en mijn collega’s bij de CIA geloven dat hij hierin net zo ongelijk heeft als in februari, toen hij zich verkeek op de Oekraïense wil om weerstand te bieden.”

De Amerikaanse spionagebaas zegt dat de oorlog enorme consequenties zal hebben voor Rusland. De Russen zijn onder andere het imago van een grote militaire macht kwijtgeraakt. Poetin klopte zich de afgelopen jaren op de borst dat het Russische leger enorm aan kracht had gewonnen door de ingrijpende modernisering die het land miljarden dollars kostte. Maar de strijd in Oekraïne liet zien dat het Russische leger zich op technologisch vlak zeker niet kan meten met de Amerikaanse krijgsmacht.
