Een arts, die de slachtoffers naar Moskou begeleidde, heeft sporen van Caesium 137 in zijn spierweefsel.

Caesium 137 is een radio actieve isotoop , dat een bij-product is na nucleaire fusie van uranium 235.

Ministerie van gezondheid in Rusland zegt nu :

" de arts heeft waarschijnlijk Fukushima krab gegeten tijdens zijn recente trip naar Thailand."

’Rusland wil kroongetuige MH17 hebben’

Rusland zou een mogelijke kroongetuige in het MH17-proces, Vladimir Tsemach, willen betrekken in een gevangenenruil met Oekraïne.

Dat meldt het AD op basis van drie verschillende bronnen waaronder de onafhankelijke Russische nieuwssite The Insider.

Tsemach is een voormalige militaire commandant van de pro-Russische separatisten die eind juni van de zomer werd opgepakt door Oekraïense militairen. De 58-jarige commandant was volgens sommige bronnen destijds commandant van de luchtverdediging vlakbij de plaats vanwaar de Buk-raket werd afgevuurd waarmee vlucht MH17 werd neergeschoten.

De militair van de separatisten zou een belangrijke getuige in het komende MH17-proces kunnen zijn. Bronnen van The Insider zeggen dat Moskou zonder hem de uitruil zelfs zou afblazen. De onderhandelingen over een gevangenenruil vinden achter gesloten deuren plaats. Volgens Kiev wordt er wel over gesproken, maar is het overleg nog niet afgerond.

Rusland wedt op lng-markt met megaprojecten

VLADIVOSTOK (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - Rusland neemt stappen om een nog grotere speler op de markt voor lng (vloeibaar gemaakt aardgas) te worden. Het land wil volgens kenners over vijftien jaar zijn marktaandeel van momenteel 8 procent ruim verdubbelen. Twee grote Russische energiebedrijven kondigden donderdag de bouw van twee grote fabrieken in Siberië aan.

Energiebedrijf Novatek, de grootste Russische producent van lng, bouwt een fabriek op de Noordpool, in Obboezem met een productieomvang van zo'n 20 miljoen ton lng per jaar. Deze kost 21 miljard dollar. Al in de loop van 2023 moet de eerste lng-productie beginnen. Ook branchegenoot Rosneft begint aan een nieuwe fabriek. Deze kan tot 6 miljoen ton lng per jaar produceren. Als beide faciliteiten operationeel zijn, wordt de Russische lng-export verdubbeld.

Rusland opende in 2009 zijn eerste lng-fabriek en voegde er nog één aan toe in 2017. Met zijn lng-productie voornamelijk in Siberië wil Rusland de komende jaren aan de groeiende vraag voor lng van onder meer China en India voldoen. Daarvoor moet het de concurrentie aangaan met andere grote lng-producenten als de Verenigde Staten, Australië en Qatar.

Lng geproduceerd in de fabriek op de noordpool moet zijn weg naar klanten in Azië vinden via de Noordelijke Zeeroute. Daarvoor zet Rusland een speciale ijsbrekervloot in. Deze route wordt steeds meer beschikbaar vanwege het smeltende ijs en is een goedkoper alternatief dan bestaande vaarroutes.

MOSKOU (AFN/BLOOMBERG) - De Russische centrale bank heeft vrijdag de rente voor de derde keer op rij verlaagd. De rente gaat met een kwart procentpunt omlaag tot 7 procent. Daarmee staat de rente op het laagste niveau sinds maart 2004.

De renteverlaging was algemeen verwacht door economen. De Russische centrale bank zei dat meer renteverlagingen tot de mogelijkheden behoren. Rusland kampt met een afzwakkende inflatie en trage economische groei. De centrale bank kwam ook met nieuwe verwachtingen voor de economische groei en inflatie in 2019.

Zvezda Shipbuilding & SHI Sign Contract for Arctic LNG 2 Project Gas Carriers Design

Rosneft said that Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex and Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd signed the contract for the design of gas-carriers for Arctic LNG 2 project during the 5th Eastern Economic Forum. Samsung Heavy Industries will become technology partner of the project and hand over the technical specifications and the design documentation of the project to Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex. The Korean company will also provide assistance in developing working design documentation to Lazurit central design bureau. The Arctic LNG carriers to be built by Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex will meet all the requirements of the Russian Federation regulations which allow determining ships as Russian.

In 2018, PJSC Novatek confirmed a reservation of Zvezda production capacities for the whole set of gas carriers for the Arctic LNG 2 project. In April 2019, Zvezda and Sovcomflot signed the contract for the construction of a pilot gas carrier for the Arctic LNG 2 project.

For the first time in history, the construction of the vessel of this type will be carried out by a Russian shipyard. It should be noted that the USSR had not manufactured such vessels and had been purchasing them abroad for many years.

The vessel’s design allows it to individually pull through the ice of up to 2.1 metres thick. The capacity of the gas carrier’s power station is 45 MW which is comparable to the capacity of a nuclear icebreaker. These Arctic LNG carriers feature increased environmental safety; in particular, they use liquefied natural gas as their primary fuel.

Russia to Help Nigeria Revamp Ajaokuta Steel

Punch reported that Nigeria’s Federal Government has intensified efforts at ensuring that sections of the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited start production before the end of 2019. Nigeria’s Minister of Mines and Steel Development Mr Olamilekan Adegbite met Russian Ambassador Mr Alexey Shebarshir in Abuja on Tuesday. Russian envoy declared at the meeting that Russia is ready to partner the Federal Government to revamp the ailing company

The minister also informed the ambassador that Nigeria would welcome Russia’s collaboration in the quest to resuscitate the company. He said, “The government is ready to embrace any collaboration aimed at revitalising the steel industry to operate in full capacity. The Federal Government is working round the clock to ensure that sections of the company start production before the end of the year.”

He added that the revitalisation of Ajaokuta Steel was of utmost concern to the present administration.

Rusland wil weten waar spion VS is
2 uur geleden in BUITENLAND

MOSKOU - Moskou wil weten waar de Amerikaanse spion is die in regeringskringen in Moskou actief was en in 2017 naar de VS werd gehaald. Moskou heeft de VS via Interpol verzocht om opheldering over zijn verblijfplaats.

Amerikaanse media meldden eerder deze week dat de VS de man naar Amerika hadden gehaald. De Russische krant Kommersant meldde later dat het om ene Oleg Smolenkov gaat. Die zou samen met zijn vrouw en drie kinderen zijn verdwenen toen hij op vakantie was in Montenegro in juni 2017.

Een woordvoerder van het Russische ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken verklaarde donderdag dat justitie in Rusland al een strafrechtelijk onderzoek naar de zaak had geopend. Via de media had het ontdekt dat de man met zijn familie in de VS zou zijn. „Natuurlijk controleren we deze informatie via de passende kanalen.” Eerder deden de Russen de kwestie af als een broodjeaapverhaal.

A single blockchain-based industrial register of certificates will fight against falsification on the Russian metal products market

Within the framework of the 4th International Mining and Metallurgical Summit SAP, an initiative was announced to create a unified industry register of blockchain-based certificates of metal products. The idea was supported by Russian metallurgical companies Severstal, Zagorsk Pipe Plant, as well as industry associations. Russian Seaports Throughput Up by 2.9% in January-August 2019

Press center of Federal Marine and River Transport Agency said that in January-August 2019, Russian seaports handled 556.29 million tonnes, up 2.9% YoY. In the reporting period, transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 248.0 million tonnes (-4.2%), liquid bulk cargo 308.29 million tonnes (+9.5%).

Seaports of the Arctic basin handled 69.82 million tonnes (+19.4%) including 20.58 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+3.9%) and 49.23 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+27.4%). Seaports of the Baltic basin handled 171.99 million tonnes (+5.8%) including 74.20 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+2.9%) and 97.79 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+8.1%).

Seaports of the Azov-Black Sea basin handled 168.52 million tonnes (-7.7%) including 61.80 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (-23.6%) and 106.72 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+5.0%).

Seaports of the Caspian basin handled 4.80 million tonnes (+46.7%) including 1.81 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (-1.5%) and 2.99 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+108.6%).

Seaports of the Far East basin handled 141.17 million tonnes (+5.5%) including 89.61 million tonnes of dry bulk cargo (+6.1%) and 51.56 million tonnes of liquid bulk cargo (+4.5%).

Rosatom First of a Kind Floating Nuclear Power Unit Arrives in Russia

The floating power unit Akademik Lomonosov has arrived at the port of its permanent location in Pevek, Chukotka, in Russia's Far East, where it is being docked to start operations by the end of this year. Once commissioned, it will become the world’s first operational nuclear power plant based on small modular reactors technology and a working prototype for reliable source of low-carbon energy supply in remote areas. The project has been welcomed by scientists, nuclear energy experts and environmentalists across the world. Akademik Lomonosov is a pilot project and a ‘working prototype’ for a future fleet of floating nuclear power plants and on-shore installations based on Russian-made small modular reactors. The small power units will be available for deployment to hard-to-reach areas of the Russia’s north and Far-East, as well as for export. The total cost of the Pevek installation will not be disclosed until the project is complete but Rosatom’s spokesman said the technology is strongly competitive.

Rosatom’s CEO Alexey Likhachev said that “It’s maybe one small step for sustainable development in the Arctic, but it’s a giant leap for the decarbonisation of remote off-grid areas, and a watershed in the development of small modular nuclear power plants in the world."

Mechel’s Elga Coal Complex Linked to Russia’s United Energy Grid

Leading Russian mining and metals companies Mechel PAO reported the launch of the Federal Grid Company of Unified Energy System’s 220-kW Elgaugol electrical substation and 220-kW Prizeiskaya-Elgaugol electric power line. Federal Grid Company supplies the line with electricity from Russia’s united energy system. The transfer to centralized electricity supply will enable Elgaugol OOO to dramatically slash energy costs and use more efficient equipment. Construction of the electric grid objects for Elga Coal Complex’s off-site power supply has thus completed its first stage. FGC UES constructed the 220-kW Elgaugol Substation and 1,080 supports, expanded its 220-kW substation Prizeiskaya. The power line originates at Prizeiskaya Substation located in Amur Region’s Verkhnezeisk village, and stretches over 270 kilometers to reach Elgaugol Substation.

In the future, FGC UES will construct the 220-kW Prizeiskaya-Elgaugol second power line and expand Elgaugol Substation’s capacity. FGC UES’s investment will total 17.5 billion rubles.

As part of the project’s first stage, Mechel in its turn provided the energy infrastructure at Elga Coal Complex’s site, including 35-kW Alpha and Beta Substations, 159 supports and 26 kilometers of distribution circuits. Mechel Group’s investment totaled 470 million rubles.

The project was launched in 2010, with the second stage due to be completed in 2023.

The power line’s launch will ensure reliable electricity supply to Elga’s production and amenity facilities and enable the complex to stop using diesel generators.

Russia to Help Uganda Develop Nuclear Energy

Uganda has signed an Inter-Governmental Agreement with Russia to help the East African country build capacity to exploit nuclear technology for energy, medical and other peaceful purposes. In an emailed statement, Uganda’s energy ministry said the IGA with Russia was signed in Vienna between Energy Minister Irene Muloni and Nikolai Spasskiy, the deputy director general of Russian state corporation ROSATOM. Under the agreement, the statement said, Russia will help Uganda with development of nuclear infrastructure and production and application of radioisotopes for industrial, healthcare and agricultural use.

In May last year Uganda also signed a memorandum of understanding with China National Nuclear Corporation to help Uganda build capacity in the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes.

Russian Steel Demand Growth seen at 1-2% in 2020 – Moody’s

Moody’s reported that the growth rates of steel demand in Russia will slow down to 1-2% in 2020 following an abnormally high growth in 2019. They said “The sharp growth of demand to 4-5% in 2019 was mainly due to non-recurring factors and is not stable. The growth rates of steel demand in Russia in 2020 will equal 1-2% due to weak growth in the majority of key steel production sectors. Businesses’ confidence in the construction sector, which is the main domestic steel buyer, still remains low, though it has increased compared with 2018.”

Moody’s added “The Russian government’s plans to boost residential construction by 50% by 2024 and upgrade infrastructure can trigger domestic steel demand, though the progress is minor as of today.”

Kremlin-critici krijgen boete om onderzoek

MOSKOU - Oppositieleiders Aleksej Navalny en Ljoebov Sobol moeten 88 miljoen roebel (ruim 1,2 miljoen euro) betalen aan een bedrijf waarover zij een kritisch rapport publiceerden. Dat heeft een Russische rechtbank maandag bepaald. Het bedrijf dat de catering voor scholen verzorgt, is in handen van een bondgenoot van Vladimir Poetin.

De Russische anticorruptiestichting (FBK), opgericht door Navalny, publiceerde in februari een onderzoek waaruit blijkt dat de kwaliteit van het geleverde voedsel ver onder de maat is. „Ze vergiftigden kinderen in scholen en kleuterscholen”, schreef oppositieleider Navalni maandag op zijn Instagram. „De gevallen van dysenterie zijn bekend, maar wij zijn nu degenen die moeten betalen.”

De rechtbank vindt dat er sprake is van smaad en dat het bedrijf recht heeft op een schadevergoeding. Ook moet de FBK het rapport over de firma intrekken.

RUSAL to Install Over 20 Modern Gas Cleaning Systems by 2025

Russian aluminium giant RUSAL plans to install over 20 state-of-the-arts dry gas cleaning systems at its smelters by 2025. These advanced systems are developed by RUSAL’s design and scientific divisions and the new equipment will allow the Company to capture over 99.5 % of hydrogen fluoride and solid fluorides. The project to retrofit RUSAL's smelters with own DGCS was launched in 2016. In October 2019, the Bratsk aluminum smelter put into operation another DGCS, developed and manufactured by the design and scientific divisions of RUSAL-SibVAMI in Irkutsk and RUSAL ITC in Krasnoyarsk. More DGCS’ are already in operation at the Company’s industrial sites in Shelekhov and Novokuznetsk.

Mr Victor Mann, RUSAL’s Technical director said that "This project is truly unique thanks to our patented design solutions, enabling RUSAL to complete the switch to utilising our own dry gas cleaning systems as part of our "EcoSoderberg" technology implementation. This innovative new technology outperforms the existing foreign analogues and delivers a superior performance, both in terms of RUSAL's sustainability footprint and overall efficiency characteristics.”
